Weekend progress

I feel like I worked all weekend but have very little to show for it. I guess most of the work was cleaning rather than finishing projects. I did get this table runner completed and I am very happy with how it turned out. I did some cleaning in my sewing room which just resulted in my guest room becoming chaotic. But now maybe I can get some things done in the sewing room.

I managed to get a quilt on the frame and get it completely quilted so that is an accomplishment. I searched and searched for a backing for this quilt. I finally gave up, even looking online, and used a stripe I had in my stash. As soon as the last quilting stitch was taken, I found the perfect backing online and it was even on sale. Figures…But I am really happy with those kitties! Adding it to the stack to be bound now.

This is a remake of a quilt I did years ago. I am showing it as a possible project with my quilt guild for 2026, so I wanted to create it fresh. A future blog post will let you know what I did. It is partially quilted with my regular Bernina sewing machine and I will hopefully get a binding on it this week. This was my major goal for the weekend, and I did get it almost finished.

I managed to wake up early both mornings this weekend and let the dogs hop up early too. Cosmo, being so quiet in the early stillness, thought it would be a good idea to claim my Halloween Decoration as his own. Lucky, I noticed right away, before he could have the stuffing all over the house. Sometimes he tries to crochet as well.

I thought about making a to do list of all the projects and chores churning around in my brain but decided it might be even more overwhelming to see them all listed out. Maybe tomorrow…

Here’s to the week ahead, I hope it is full of great stitching for all of you!

  1. I find that a list can help me to decide the order of items that I want to work on. If there is one that lingers near the bottom of the list for several weeks, I will make myself spend time with it and then set it aside again. 🙂 I will then reward myself with the freedom to work on the current favorite.

Thanks for joining Sew & Tell.

  2. Cleaning and organizing sewing stuff usually results in a bigger mess before it gets better! (Ask me how I know!:) I love your finished tablerunner – that blue and cheddar combination is really pretty.
