SO Glad to Have a Finish!

I finally finished my Project of Doom! I am so relieved to get it completed. I wasn’t sure I would ever see it done. If you want to make one yourself, all the paper piecing patterns are free at Fandom in Stitches. Click on the link above.

I was supposed to get a large quilt quilted this weekend, so I cleaned my sewing room instead. I had to have a nice place to hang my Harry Potter quilt. And I needed more space, so I cleared some things out. Now my guest room is a mess.

My husband and I have been working on this puzzle. We are much farther along than this picture now, but this was the most challenging quilt I have ever made. It is a tough puzzle. We usually do one in less than a week but this one and the previous one were both tough ones.

So, I was able to get a very old UFO completed but I could not refrain from starting a new project that needs 234 Nine patch blocks with 1-inch finished squares. What was I thinking??? Hopefully it will be done before 20 years goes by…

  1. Great that you could hang your finish on the wall in your studio, where you can really enjoy it! That puzzle looks very quilty!

  2. What a masterpiece! I’m impressed by your commitment to getting this project completed. I once made a mini quilt featuring Dumbledore using a pattern from the website you referenced, so I have an inkling of the work that went into your Harry Potter quilt. Congratulations!

  3. You must feel so proud of yourself to have finished that quilt. I bet it was a blast to do all those paper pieced patterns. It looks so striking on the wall in your sewing room. I like how the wall color brings out the backs of the shelves in the quilt. I’m laughing about your cleaning process. Isn’t it funny how cleaning up quilting just moves the mess around the house?
