Project of Doom, finally getting finished!

Today, I loaded my Harry Potter bookcase quilt onto the quilt machine. It was rather a brave thing to do since it already had some quilting done on it and I am not great with free motion. But this quilt has been in the works for YEARS! I want it finished! For those of you who are not familiar with the Pattern. It can be found at Fandom in Stitches and it is all free.

I am rather happy with my meandering and my pages of the books.

I wanted the background to look like bricks or stone, but I ended up making my bricks too large I think and the thread matches too well. You can’t really see them.

Love the wavy grid on the “Carpet”.

And, when I took it off the longarm, I saw that I had forgotten to do the cauldron and potion. I had big plans, but it was not worth loading it on the longarm again so plain boring quilting will have to do…I did a serpentine stitch in the potion and just some basic outlines on the cauldron.

I have worked on this quilt all day, with very few short breaks for lunch and water. 8AM to 4PM. After I took it off the longarm, I had a lot of straight stitching to do around the books. I hope to get this quilt bound and a sleeve on it tomorrow so I can call it finished! I have a label for it somewhere too that I guess I need to sew on. I need to have a big DRY CLEAN ONLY label on it to remind me not to wash it. Some of that printable fabric is from waayyyy back and is not washable. Major win for me today! So glad to see it progressing!
