Weekend Clean Out

With much thanks to my husband and daughter, I got a laundry room refresh this weekend! We had ordered a new washer and dryer to be delivered Saturday and impulsive me, decided Friday at 4PM that the room needed painting! I had already started the cleanup in preparation. I’m pretty sure my husband was cussing under his breath and rolling his eyes but outwardly he rolled up his sleeves and got to work. I am still hoping to add a nice rug and a couple of new hampers- AND NOTHING ELSE! It’s not Pinterest quality but it is so beautiful to me!

Here is a bit of the BEFORE but it is AFTER I had done a lot of cleaning. My husband finished the cleaning by attacking the gross floor after moving those machines- my washer had been leaking for who knows how long…

He even had to cut out the baseboard that will now have to be replaced at a later date.

This was the first gallon, and we thought we maybe were okay without a second, then we got up on Saturday morning to many spots of cream paint showing through. So, my husband got his roller out again and I fetched another gallon of “Monorail Silver”.

I am so happy to see that front loader washer go! I have never liked it, and it was impossible to keep clean- the seal was always full of mildew that I could never get cleaned off. The dryer was perfectly fine but we wanted a matched set. The new washer has an impeller. Hoping we love it! I already love the chimes! It sings to me instead of buzzing!

Thank you to the best husband in the world! And to my daughter too, who had never painted a room before. She came after working late and did all the small brush work around the shelf hardware that we refused to remove.

I do have a finish to share now that I have gifted the mate to the table runner shown. This is me being goofy at my guild to try to pass on my bag of scraps from creating my acorns. And they were grabbed up so I hope to see another set of acorns soon! I made two runners that match, and one went to a friend who had been a great roommate at a recent quilt retreat!

I had a lot of fun making them and they went together pretty quickly after getting the tops of the acorns together.

The instructions for the acorns can be found at https://www.sewmariana.com/blog/scrappy-acorn-quilt-block-tutorial.

Today, my husband will be tackling some closets for me. Hoping to get our camping gear stored- it had been crammed in the laundry room, but we have a better location for it…it just has to be cleared out.
