Step into my parlor…

I once swore that I would NEVER do a spider web quilt.

Then, looking at two crates full of string scraps, I decided it might be worth a try…

That was at least a decade ago.

Well, the pictures do not do this quilt justice. The colors are amazing and bright. There are pieces of fabric in this quilt where the quilt they are scraps from are still not finished.

Despite the fact that there are a few wonky seams and the points are bulky, with 8 layers of fabric in them. I might have to consider this piece my magnum opus.

It has been quilted on my new long arm.

At the end of piecing this quilt, I had three tubs of strips rather than the two I started with…What? I’ll never understand that…

And with all those lovely webs, I had the brilliant idea that it just had to have a spider…

Enter Pansy the magnificent weaver…She is about 3 feet wide when you include her legs. She was a regular sized paper pieced quilt block-12 inches I believe- that I purchased through Etsy and then I blew her up to the size I wanted.

Here is the entire back. This color is most accurate as the backing is Kona Orchid.

I used Warm and White batting in this one. With that, the fabric foundations, so many little pieces and the pieced back, this quilt weighs a ton! It measures about 82 inches square.

Today I managed to get a binding on this quilt that has been waiting for that last step for more than a year. Not sure where this one is headed but its a lovely, snuggly thing with flannel backing and washable wool batting to make it nice and squishy.

This quilt top had gone to Project Linus a few weeks ago. I was thrilled to see they got it quilted and bound and ready to go out to be loved.

And, I managed to get my Festival Fever blanket completed! This was an amazing crochet along through King Cole and Coastal Crochet. Lovely, fun blanket and I am so excited that I got it finished!
