I have been spending the last 2 weeks helping out at my church preschool. One more week to go and being reminded of how absolutely exhausting four-year-olds are. They are wonderful sweethearts, and I get one more week with them, but I am tired! So, just a little bit of sewing and quilting took place this weekend. Can you see the lovely sailboat on this little nautical quilt?

Here is another view of the quilt. I love all the blues! Very calming and simple pattern, I think. My machine goes through needles like crazy. I had to replace it during this small quilt and it had just been replaced at the finish of the previous quilt. Slowing the speed down doesn’t seem to help so I am going to have to try some different battings to see if that makes a difference. If you have suggestions of battings that you love, I would be thrilled to hear it. I need something washable, lofty and no bearding.

I am working on this Halloween quilt and have a long way to go still but I am not sure I like it. My daughter loves the colors. I ended up ordering some more of the black eyelash fabric so that I can tame the edges a bit. I may play with some embroideries on black to replace the haunted house squares as my daughter suggested to see if I like them better. I really wanted the stars to pop but I have a hard time seeing them, though they show up ok in the picture.

I am making good progress on my Festival Fever CAL. I have about 15 more rows to go before I can start the border. I have started working on some Halloween squares as well in hopes of getting a cardigan done by October. I will have to work faster than I am though to reach that goal. I also have a Christmas one in the making that needs attention.
Good job making it through 4 year old land – ha! The Halloween quilt is cool and I love the Festival Fever CAL so far – wow – those stitches!

Loving all the progress! The sailboat quilt is so calming, and that CAL blanket is bursting with joy. Curious to see how the haunted house embroideries turn out!
