Applique

I have been bitten by the applique bug again. It comes very rarely (and now I am remembering why…) and I only do raw edge/machine applique.

I have committed myself to 2 applique patterns from Suzy’s Sitcom. This happy pup with ears blowing in the breeze is from her Happy Tails quilt. He is the first of 12 pups. I have the first 4 backgrounds prepared and have lots of time to spend with my light table to get moving on the next doggies. The background fabrics have all come from my stash, as did all the parts of this pup but I didn’t have enough fabrics for all the dogs so went to the shop for some more.

While I was shopping, I picked up some fox fur for this baby…

He is block 2 of the Seasons Blessings block of the month. I have to do block 1 still and then will be caught up for January. Of course, all of these still need machine stitching and embroidery of details. That might happen someday.

This foxy little guy took 3 hours of work already and is very far from finished. Should keep me out of lots of trouble in the coming year if I can just focus and keep up…

Here is my progress on my Jen Kingwell style piece. I need to give it a simpler name. maybe square medallion or walk around the block…we will see what sticks. Some of those strips aren’t even attached yet so it is moving slowly.

I have rededicated myself to learning free motion quilting on my sit down machine. Here is day one. I have a Bernina stitch regulator. This is the back of the piece. I was hoping to get good enough to follow the seashells on this next quilt but its not looking promising…

This is fabric I have had a few years from a trip to Florida. We are desert dwellers who LOVE the ocean! This quilt is made for a specific location on my stairway which is currently empty so I was hoping to get it finished this week. However, the quilting pattern for the center is not making itself known. I may try to go around the star and then have rays coming off from those angles past the wreath, but I was really hoping to emphasize the white shells, and my free motion is not up to par.

Not sure if you can tell how badly I am struggling with WordPress currently. This post seems like it will be all a mess. I am really unhappy with their editor and how to add content. Seriously thinking of relocating the blog- again. Why can’t it just be easy and uncomplicated. It seems pretty straight forward to make it simple to add pictures and text for a blog. Shouldn’t be so hard to align things etc. If anyone has any pointers, please let me know.

Hope you all have a wonderful week of stitching and preparing for the holidays!
