Updates to the site and Visions of Christmas!

I have started a Christmas quilt that has been in my thoughts for awhile. It is called Visions of Christmas and it will be a major undertaking. I will offer the block patterns here for free for about a month while I work on the next block. I have posted my first block on my free patterns page of this site. I have made the block twice now so all the measurements and steps should be correct. Here you can see I made a final change to the Gingerbread man’s feet from the bottom block to the top. I cannot promise to have a block posted each month but I will try my hardest to do so. Hope to have a completed quilt by Christmas 2026!

Hop on over to my free patterns page to get the downloadable pattern for Block 1-Plate of Cookies. https://aliveandpiecing.com/free-patterns/

Be warned though- this is not really a beginner friendly block. There are lots of tiny pieces and it will take some patience to get it assembled. That is not my usual style. I like simple quilts that can be finished quickly, so this one is really stepping out of my comfort zone. I am very happy with the result though!

Also, you may have noticed that I actually updated my domain. You should now be seeing this blog at https://aliveandpiecing.com/

I am also planning on starting to post some videos on my youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/@aliveandpiecing I am hoping to be inspired to finish some of my UFOs by posting some videos of things I am working on. It will take me awhile to learn the video software and stuff though. Hope you’ll check in on me there once in a while. I hope that I can share my love of quilting and maybe inspire or assist other quilters.

I made a little progress on my Christmas Zipper blocks yesterday. That missing block is in the works and then I need to find a border fabric and get started on the four patches for the outside border. I’ll be rearranging the blocks before I start sewing rows. I just kinda threw them up there willy nilly.

I have made a little progress on the Storyteller blanket from Attic 24. I am loving this pattern and it’s hard to focus on other projects instead. I have a fall poncho that just needs a final border though and it really would be great to have it available to wear when the weather finally decides to act like fall around here. Then I have to decide if I am really going to try to get things done in time for Christmas gifts or not.

Hope you all are having a lovely October! Happy Stitching!
